\u00ab\u00a0Broadcasting on the BBC and worldwide for 20 years, there are a handful of records that have had such a huge impact on my listeners. Alongside the likes of the Cinematic Orchestra, Zero 7, Jill Scott and Mos Def, the Gotan Project came out and bit the listener hard. I’ll never forget the phenomenal response that tracks like \u2018Tr\u00edptico\u2019 and \u2018Santa Mar\u00eda (Del Buen Ayre)\u2019 from \u2018La revancha del tango\u2019 invoked. Nearly a decade since that landmark release, this record has everything that I want to hear from Mssrs. Cohen Solal, Makaroff and M\u00fcller. From the opening lazy stroll of \u2018Tango Square\u2019 which ambles out of the speakers somewhere between a New Orleans funeral march and a moody, Boulevard waltz, to the sprightly gait of the rockabilly-tinged \u2018De hombre a hombre\u2019. Starting in cosy, traditional Gotan Project territory, it\u2019s exciting to hear all this Americana creep in to the melting pot alongside those immaculately crafted electronics and, of course, the ever-present nod to the roots of Coxsone Dodd\u2019s Studio One.\u00a0\u00bb Gilles Peterson<\/a><\/p>\n
