Any self-respecting songwriter is looking for the “perfect torch song”, the one that touches our hearts and makes our souls vibrate.
That quest motivated Philippe Cohen Solal (Gotan Project) and Josh Kier to write the unreleased “Runaway“, from the 15-year anniversary edition of “The Moonshine Sessions“, due to be released next month.
“Runaway” is a track in line with country ballads of the mid 70s, which we could listen to on FM radios while traveling the roads of Tennessee, between Linda Ronstadt, Nicolette Larsonand Emmylou Harris. Here, country singer Joy Lynn White reminds us that no matter how hard we try to run away from our own heart, love always catches up with us.
Joy Lynn White is one of my favorite music artists, so I’m glad to have discovered this unreleased song featuring her.
